A new way to Travel: Tagxe.com

Tagxe.com is a website that prides itself as a hybrid form of transportation. A combination of the cheap but slow buses and the fast but expensive taxis.

Tagxe is created as a hybrid form of public transportation. What this means is that like buses, people going to the same destination share the same vehicle. But because this is a taxi, you can get off near where you live. Also the taxi travels very fast because there are no unnecessary stops and a taxi is legally
allowed to go up to 90kmh

Personally (the Fad boy) feels that such a platform has been lacking and it has been about time someone did something like this!

From the website, you will be able to find out how to go about getting your first "shared" tagxe ride. In the forums, you will be able to find postings by others looking for tagxe mates.

Well, a interesting point is the effort they made to have a "fair" form of splitting the fare.

Above is just a simple summary. On the website you can find out the complicated methodology and the research done. (i can't believe there are websites just on splitting fares!)

Finally, what is in it for YOU?

1. Save time (every little mins counts.. an hr a day, 15 days a yr and so on..)

2. Meet new and interesting pple (perhaps find love? but hopefully not a stalker..)

3. Save 75% off your fare (This IS the most important!)

but more importantly, they are in the early stages of the business (new startup like Fad!!).. Go to their blog and sometimes you get some pretty nice deals! like the following...

FREE taxi rides! In exchange for selling out encouraging your friends to use the service. Not a bad deal given that my taxi ride from Home to Sch cost an average of $15!!!

Go check out the website, use it if you find it interesting (remember you saw it a the Fad people).. Share with us your experience with the "interesting" people you met. And if we happen to use the service, we will share ours too!

We're all too busy

Girls have such tough, beautiful lives. We are cursed for our vanity yet our beauty makes it all worthwhile. It sounds all too familiar... Snoozing the alarm, overslept. Frantic splash of water, some would call shower. Make up done, snap-snap, then zip - You're out of the house and off to school or work. There's never enough time for a relaxing high tea somewhere posh. There's never time to sleep. There's never time to window shop. Like roses without water, how can girls live without shopping? (Ok. Bad analogy. Moving on....)

Shopping. The music to our ears. Shopping. The love we abandon our boyfriends for. Shopping. We can now do at home. In the comfort of our rooms. Come on, online shopping has been catching on these few years. I'd bet all of you had dabbled in that count down more exciting than New Year's Eve - eBay! And we've all indulged in the thrill and delight of receiving packages of goodies we've paid for online. (the Fad girl recently bought a jazz tune from an obscure source: http://www.picklehead.com/ and it's trusthworthy!) Ok digression.

You must already have a list of go-to's for your online shopping treat. Here's one more for your keeping. And if you're the sort that have not jumped onto the bandwagon of new age shopping, try this out from a dependable site - I promise you'd never look back.

PapayaMilkShop (no no, not the drink that works wonders) is an online fashion boutique carrying trendy dainty wears and accessories that's versatile for school, work and play! And the cherry on top of the sundae is how affordable its fashion line is. From bags to shades to cosmetics and Dresses! You'll be spoilt for choice.

I was rummaging through this treasure chest when I found some cutsie mascaras named "Charming-Angel" and "Spotty-Dog", all highly recommended on TV shows overseas. Perfect for those who hate copy-cats and love having those unique-items to flaunt or boast about!

Tired of wearing the same old black top to school? Or that LBD that has seen countless parties it's becomes LOD (Little Outdated Dress)... With specicif measurements listed and oh-so-lovely names like Nyx, Athena and Gaia... We are all transformed into princesses and divas.

Admittedly this is no Zara or Topshop. But in the era of mix-and-match. Haute couture and street fashion can be sewn seamlessly together by your unique sense of style. We can all be fashionistas and have some money left for a cuppa.

Have fun browsing and may you be blessed for not having to risk heart attack counting down on eBay and having all your pretty buys sent to you as you snooze your mornings away!

If this is good, tell your gal friends all about it!

So its the holiday season!

Its the time of the year that everyone seems to be very excited about the Holidays!

and what better way to spend it by going overseas and taking in the sight and sounds (including shopping and eating!) in the different places around us!

For today, the Fad people decide to go on our little online trip to bring you the ways to go about getting that trip finalised!

we realised the constraints as students or just poor individuals (like ourselves) and so its all going to be budget budget!

So first (assuming you have a place in mind already!), you will want to find the flights over to that dream destination!

We suggest, Airasia, for a reliable budget airline (with good offers once in awhile!). It is one of the largest budget airline in our region and thus, the Fad people chose Airasia over other budget airlines in the region. (if you are interested, try: Jetstar or Tiger Airways)

So quickly go check out the cheap tickets! Remember the nearer to the date, the more expensive it is!

After the all important flight (you do have to get there first right?), to get the cheapest budget hotels, hostels or even student houses available in your selected country. Why not try Hostelworld.com!

The largest and most comprehensive online housing website for budget travellers! Find the perfect place, book it online.. and please remember to print your confirmation slip!

We just simply LOVE it! (so i am not going to suggest other websites!)

Of course, being lazy people meticulous as well, the Fad people also suggest the following site: Zuji.com.

For the one stop, easy and quick way to book airlines, hotels and even rent cars!

There is no need to go to different sites to meet your travelling needs! Quickly and effeciently get that trip planned (but we don't guarantee that the prices will be the lowest!)

Now that the plane has been booked, the accomodation prepared... Why do you need this following site?

Because at Lonely Planet (like the famous travel books of the same title), you get information about the country you are visiting! Know the place, eat the nicest food and shop at the right places!

An additional step to take but it ensures an enjoyable trip!

Just an Additional piece of info for our beloved Fad readers!

Go check out Jetstar (budget airlines!). Currently celebrating its 3rd birthday, Jetstar is having promotional prices for many of its trips (including Bangkok for $3! and Hongkong for $33!).

One catch though, you have to go after December. So for all you who don't have to stick to the December holidays. Enjoy yourselves as the Fad people slog ourselves back here in the Fad land!

The hills are alive...

Now this is quite off the beaten path. We've heard of french film fest, chinese film fest, Oktoberfest, manifest... But German Film Fest? Now that's something.

The Cathay Cineplex and Goethe-Institut in Singapore are organising the 11th German Film Fest from 1 Nov to 11 Nov.

the Fad people recommend from the wide selection, the following few worth paying your 10 bucks for:

1. Cutting Edge (Die Aufschneider): If you like hospital drama (Grey's Anatomy, E.R., Scrubs) you would like this comedy about two hospitals competing with each other, trying to prevent being closed down.

2. Emma’s Bliss (Emmas Glück): A love story/drama will never be complete without someone dying, some intrigue and adventures. Emma's Bliss seems to have all these ingredients. Definitely a must-watch for all romantics out there.

3. Heavyweights (Schwere Jungs): For the sports buffs who love a good laugh. Bears the shadow of The Mighty Ducks starring Emilio Estevez. (We are assuming you have a childhood here since The Mighty Ducks is quite an old movie.)

4. Hotel Very Welcome: German version of The Beach (which is an amazing film by the way, not only because Leo DiCap is in it) involving travel in Asia. Perhaps something that might strike a chord with all of us?

5. Where is Fred? (Wo ist Fred?): the Fad people love saving the best for the last. "Where is Fred?" wins this because upon reading the summary of the storyline, we burst out laughing!

Have a good week ahead and see you at Cathay!
